Confess by Colleen Hoover is a novel about two characters who meet up by coincident, and their relationship grow drastically over a short period of time. Auburn Mason Reed is a twenty years old girl who just moved to Dallas, Texas when she meets Owen Mason Gallen in front of his art gallary. The thing that made her stop in her track is when she sees a building with the word Confess on it. As she starts reading, she find out that there are many confessions written by real people. But why?

“That could be fate, you know.”

As I started reading this book, I had very high expectations because this is a Colleen Hoover book, and I loved every book she has written. I usually get lost in her books, and I don't lose track of time. However, this wasn't the same. I liked the first 60% of the book. I liked how flirty Owen and Auburn were, and how their relationship is getting serious pretty quickly. But I also didn't like how they quick paced it all was. I didn't feel any connection to the characters. There weren't any scenes that I thought were cute or hot. I have to admit I liked the writing of the first 60% percent, but the story wasn't that realistic to me.

After finishing the 60% of the book, and many 'confessions' were said, I was shocked at some twists, but from there, the book started going downward. At some point, I wanted to punch the book, and the characters because SERIOUSLY?

Then, I really liked the last bit of the book. I mean the last few chapters when we finally get to know one last confession. In the end, I rated this 3 stars because it was an okay read for me. Although I liked some parts of the book, I didn't like other parts.

“How is it possible that I’m already falling in love with you?”

Sorry, IT IS NOT POSSIBLE!

Positive:

Owen is an artist who doesn't give a shit about anything or anyone. He was mysterious at first, and seemed like a jerk who didn't care about people. But as I kept reading, we get to see his true colors, and I really liked him.

“No one deserves you like I do.” … “No one sees you like I do.” … “No one understand you the way I do.” … “No one makes your heart beat like I do.” … He presses his palm against my heart. “And no one else deserves to be inside you if they can’t get there here first.”

I also LOVED the confessions, and the art parts. It was one of my favorite parts about this book. I wish there was more of it though because the best scenes in the book happened with the art. It was a very unique idea. I really like the fact that the art and the confessions are all real, and not just fiction which made the book a bit better for me.

“I love you so much.” His voice is breathless and full of fear. “I’ll love you forever. Even when I can’t.” My tears fall harder at his words. “And I’ll love you forever. Even when I shouldn't.”

Colleen Hoover's writing is also one of the best positive things about this book. She can paint pictures with her writing, and I really like the way she wrote this book. This is said in an alternative POV between Owen and Auburn.

& Emory is also one of the positive things in this book. I know that she was only a minor character, but I actually really liked her, and I agreed with so many things she said to Auburn. I also like her wierdness, and capability to guess things.

“He kisses me like he's giving me every kiss he wishes he could have given me the past, and every kiss he'll wish he could give me in the future. All at once.”

Negative:

Auburn is one of the reasons I didn't like this book as much. She was very naive, and stupid. I don't want to get into details as to why I think this way, but I can say that the way she reacted to everything that was happening to her was very wrong. She is a 'damsel in distress who is waiting for her prince charming to come and save her' type of character. I didn't feel any connection to her, and she appeared boring!

The time period of 'falling in love'. I mean yes, it is possible to be attracted to someone you don't know. However, it is not possible to extremely crush over someone you just knew for a day, and this is where my problem started with this book. I felt like it was very quickly paced, and unrealistic. They didn't even spend that much time together but the relationship escalated way too quickly for me.

Moreover, this book isn't all about positive and negatives. There are so much more to this book than Owen-Auburn relationship, and I guess this is why I gave this book a 3 stars because although I didn't like some parts of it, I felt like there were so many realistic issues that people can actually face. I haven't actually discussed any of these 'issues' since it's better to go into this blind and not know their secrets. However, I have to admit, I was gaping when some of the twists happened.
